Jr Wrecks in Practice at Talladega

Ok, so now I am on Dale Jr's WRECKED race car. Junior's tire exploded in the second practice yesterday and it sounded like "the shot heard 'round the world!" Watch the video in this link.

It appeared that the names were not on the car at this point. I looked at the video at Junior's car and it didn't look like names were all over it. Look at this picture from Doug Demmons/The Birmingham News and you'll see what I mean.

Besides, there didn't appear to be any damage under the 88 on the passenger's side...that's where my name is supposed to be!

Thank God Junior wasn't injured. I can stand my name being mulitated on the side of a car...that's just how my luck goes. But it always gets me a little in the stomach when I see an Earnhardt against the wall.

Ok, so they will pull out the back up car and Dale Jr will do what he does best...kick some butt at Talladega!

I AM ON DALE JR'S CAR!!!!!!!!!

YEAH!!!!! Not only did I get my name on Dale Jr's car for the AMP Energy 500 this weekend at Talladega SuperSpeedway, but it is in a fairly good location.

Use this link and my email address (palmtreesandwetsand@gmail.com) to see where my name will be.

I am on the passenger's side door directly below the 88. That's where Junior will either hit the wall or where Kyle Bush will rub up against him and ruin my name! LOL

Gosh, I hope Jr wins this weekend!!!!!

Still Pulling For Dale Jr!

Junior had a little set back yesterday in the NASCAR race at Dover, but I think he'll be ok in the long run. He's accomplished so much this season. I just know he isn't done yet!!!

Check out this caricature of Dale Jr. I found by John Rios. Please go to his webiste to download the wallpaper of this drawing.

Also, follow Junior during the Sprint Cup Chase on his chase page. Here is a link to the page from his Infield Parking blog.

Dale JR Qualifies For Chase!

By now most of you know that I am a huge Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan! Yesterday was a big day for Dale Jr. because he was able to earn enough points in the race that he is now locked into the NASCAR Sprint Cup Chase.

For those of you who aren't big racing fans, it means he qualifies to contend for the championship. It's sort of like earning a playoff spot in football or hockey. This is big because last year, at DEI, he did not qualify. Equipment problems and family issues kept him from competing in the Chase.

New year, new team, new chance for Dale Jr. to finish the season with a lot accomplished this year. He won a regular season race, as well as the Budweiser Shootout and another non-points race.

Good luck, Junior, as you continue to put rack up great finishes and maybe even some more victories this year!

Want Your Name on Jr's Race Car (or Pit Wall, or Car Cover, etc)

Really. But I think they have planned ahead and tried to accomodate for the fact that the car isn't going to be big enough to hold all the fans' names in Junior Nation!!!!

It would take quite a sum of money to put your name on the side of a race car, but AMP Energy drink is providing an opportunity for NASCAR fans to do just that with Dale Jr.'s #88 car. The first 65,000 people to sign up at AMP Energy's web site will have their name appear on the car for that AMP Energy 500 at Talledega Superspeedway. If you don't sign up in time, the next 35,000 names will appear on the pit wall banner, and registered names to appear after that will appear on the race car cover or on AMP Energy signage posted throughout the race track. We'd guess the names will be pretty small, so don't expect to see your name on TV any time soon. The last day to register is July 1. ~Drew Phillips
REPEAT: Last day to register is July 1. That's Tuesday.

Go to Amp Energy and sign up to get your name somewhere on something Dale Jr. will at least walk past. LOL!!!!!

I probably got there in time to have my name on the sign that points to the Amp concession stand on the side of the road 5 miles away from the track!

But at least they are thinking ahead about the sheer numbers that will respond to this!

DALE JR WINS!!!!

F*I*N*A*L*L*Y!

I am so excited that Dale Earnhardt, Jr. won his first race this season (or last season for that matter.) It was just a matter of time before all those Top 10 and Top 5 finishes paid off.

How fitting is it that he broke his Victory Lane drought on Father's Day!

Las Vegas Template Freebie

Here is today's Major Cities of the World Template Series freebie: the Las Vegas Template.

If you are familar with Las Vegas history, you will recognize Vegas Vic on this template.

Once again today's template will go great with its State Template Series counterpart, the Nevada template. Sometimes the state template is too general, but in the last few days they have fit right in with the cities you have requested.

Look for my Father's Day Template to come out this weekend so that you can get a head start on your layouts for Dear Old Dad!

Also, in case you missed it, I posted the Junior Nation AMP Radio Spot yesterday. Check it out...it is a pretty catchy tune!

Junior Nation Amp Radio Spot

Here is the Publix radio spot that has the jingle "Junior Nation" on it. I hadn't heard it on the station that I listen to but one of my Pilates clients told me about it.

I had to email the raido station she listens to (which is an urban music station) and get them to send me a link to it. I don't think I could have listened to that station until I heard the jingle!!!! It just isn't my type of music.

Non-Scrapping NASCAR Fans Welcome

This post is for those of you who find your way here through NASCAR related links and who aren't digital (or paper) scrapbookers. You guys are welcome here too!

Although I do talk about NASCAR on my site and I do provide links to NASCAR news and information, what I bet you don't know is that you don't have to be a digital scrapper to download my NASCAR stuff!

Most of my elements and papers are either in .png or .jpg format. In other words, they are simple pictures! Please feel free to use my designs on your desktops or anywhere else you might use a picture, like on your Infield Parking blog! Just please don't act like they are something you designed yourself. A mention of my blog or just my name would be the correct thing.

You don't have to know how to use Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop for most of my designs (the templates are the exception.) The files come zipped and when you unzip them you have regular photo files to work with.

It is not my intention to steal anything copyrighted by NASCAR or any of the drivers. I do not SELL any of these for any kind of monetary gain. I am just trying to help NASCAR fans show their love of the sport and their favorite drivers. If NASCAR or any driver were to ask me to stop, I would.

So check out my label cloud on the sidebar and look for NASCAR related posts. Look under NASCAR, the name of a specific speedway or look under Dale Jr or Dale Earnhardt.

Although Junior is my favorite driver, I do offer other drivers' stuff occasionally. Mostly though, I offer generic racing themed suff. Check it out!

Amish Collection Freebie

What I have for you today is an Amish themed kit that includes a lot of textured pieces. I love the 3-D look of digital scrapbooking and I try to incorporate as many types of textured and dimential things as I can.

I once read on a designer's blog that she never used drop shadow on her designs. You could add them if you wanted them.

I use a lot of the tools in both Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop. Part of the reason is that I know some of you do not know how to unilize those features. To each their own I guess. Personally, I enjoy seeing the element literally pop off the page!

So here is today's Amish Collection. As is always the case, come back tomorrow for the add on to this kit.

This kit is mostly blues and browns and is a little different than what I usually do. Let me know what you think!

I am experimenting all the time , usually while I am watching NASCAR races. I get a lot of my NASCAR themed ideas at that time! LOL

More NASCAR Freebies!

This is the first day without a Countries of the World Template from that series. I hope to take your mind off that loss (lol) by offering another NASCAR download.

Here is the More NASCAR Word Art and Elements. This kit focuses on Lowe's Mortorspeedway and the All Star Race. However, someone asked for a Kansas Speedway logo and so that is included here (since the Kansas race isn't until September and I didn't want them to wait have to wait that long!)

Gotta run...Pilates traning this weekend and I'm late! LOL

Countries of the World Template Series Freebie: India

Today it is back to the Countries of the World Template Series to offer you the India Template. Later this week I will sneak in a Mother's Day Template. Then it will be back to the CotW series.

I was designing some things last night while I watched the NASCAR race. I was so disappointed that Dale Jr. wrecked with only 2 laps to go!! He was leading!!!! Aaarrrggghhh!!!!!

But my son is happy that the Flyers advanced to the next round of the NHL Stanley Cup payoffs. My fiance is pulling for the Pittsburgh Penguins since he is originally from Pittsburgh.

Me, I really don't care either way because my team didn't even make it to the payoffs this year. Oh well. I was just glad that the team that beat my team to make the palyoffs lost in the first round.

Talladega Wordart Freebie

I'm taking a break today from the Countries of the World Template Series to offer some NASCAR wordart for Talladega Superspeedway. Today's race is at the Alabama race track.

There is some Dale Jr. stuff in this pack as well as some NASCAR general stuff like "Gentlemen Start Your Engines." This set will be great for all you Talladega Infield "Crazies" (I use that word as a term of affection.)

Check out my other NASCAR stuff, like the NASCAR Collection and Add On . Even my Daytona Template can be modified with the Talladega Wordart from today. You can also use my Alabama template from the State Template Series for part of your Talladega layout.

And if you missed the post the other day, check out Scrapbook Design Down Under for a map of Alabama. You can print this wordart and the elements from my kits and use for paper scrapping as well as use them for digiscrapping. Now you have the "tools" to create your own Tallagedega scrapbook. OR you can call it "JR Wins at 'Dega!" LOL

The CotW Template Series continues tomorrow with the Jamaica template. Here is today's freebie: Talladega Wordart.

JR Wins the Pole at Texas!!!

Dale Jr. had an awesome run in qualifing! He was 2/10 of a second faster than the 2nd qualifier. It's his first pole of the season and his first pole with Hendrick Motor Sports!

Attention NASCAR Fans

Now is the time to start voting for your favorite NASCAR driver. The 2008 Chex Most Popular Driver site is up and running. You get to vote every day.

Dale Jr. has won this award the last 5 years. Even last year when he announced his move from DEI, his number change and his sponsor change he still won the vote hands down!

Make sure you bookmark this site. You have until November to vote every day!

Belgium Template Freebie

Good morning! I'm happy to see all the response so far to my Countries of the World Template Series. It was nice to wake up this morning and see all the traffic from Australia picking up yesterday's template.

Here is the digital scrapbooking freebie for today: the Belgium template. I made a small attempt at humor by making the background on this template from a "waffle" pattern. Yeah, I know, pretty bad, huh? Well I thought it would be better than putting waffles (the eating kind) on the template.

Well it is off to another 8 hours of Pilates reformer training. I'm grateful my employer is sending us to these trainings, but this time I am missing the NASCAR race. Watch, Jr. will probably win the one time I'm not watching! Well, if that's what it takes to get him a victory then I'll gladly sacrifice for him! LOL

More NASCAR Stuff

I was doing my usual digging around on the internet and came across this blog, Scrappin Alikat. Lo and behold, what did I find but more NASCAR stuff (without even looking.)

So here is a link to Camille's NASCAR stuff. This is just one page. Look around her site because she has more stuff to offer. Here is my NASCAR Collection and NASCAR Collection ADD On.
And please tell her I sent you. I'm getting ready to send her this link.

Daytona Template Freebie

If you came here looking for the State Template Series, you ARE in the right place. However, today I'm taking a break from the state templates to offer a Daytona Template since tomorrow is the 50th running of the Daytona 500.

I am offering this template for all those Alabama digi scrappers who wrote to tell me that YES, THEY WERE NASCAR FANS TOO!

This template is very versitle. I opted to use only photos and no journaling. You can use one or more of the flags for journaling, or you can darken the overlay and use the cars for journaling (or photos.)
Tomorrow I will be back to the State Template Series and will have Kansas to offer. I will also have a NASCAR Collection and NASCAR Collection Add On in the next few days. Look for drivers like Dale Jr., Gordon, Stewart and Juan Pablo Montoya in these kits.

I'm still pulling for Dale Earnhardt Jr., but I figure he's used up his wins for one weekend! But that won't stop me from cheering him on! GO DALE JR, GO!!!!!

Dale Jr Having Fun Down Under

"In Australia on vacation with friends, Dale Earnhardt Jr. on Friday dropped in on Marcos Ambrose's V8 Super School for the opportunity to drive one of the school's 450-horsepower race cars around the 2.1-kilometre road course." NASCAR.com
