Scotland Template is Today's Freebie

I'm glad you guys are commenting so much on my Countries of the World Template Series. I love hearing your plans for each template. Someone is planning a trip and is thinking how they can use the templates or somene else has pictures from years ago they are going to scan and use in a layout. Then there's the person who has a friend that they know would love it if they made them something with the template.

Remember, you can always send someone a picture, OR you can do a layout with the picture, save it as a .jpeg and send it. Imagine the difference to someone who doesn't digi scrap. Plus, you get to journal on it.

A few years ago I made my dad a DVD of his old pictures with music to them. It was very nice. But then when my fiance' wanted me to make one for his granddaughter's pictures I thought of doing layouts instead of just adding pictures. WOW. What a difference! So that second DVD was so much more eye catching and entertaining than the first one. And here all that time I thought the first one was awesome! LOL

Anyway, today's freebie is the Scotland template. This is very near to my heart because I am of Scottish ancestry. My maiden name is Moss, which is part of Clan Maxwell. Many years ago my ex and I went to Grandfather Mountain in NC for the Highland Games. It is one of the largest gatherings of the clans in North America. We found my father's surname, our tartan and other really neat information about the history of the clan.

I want to note that the bagpiper bear was taken from Bears.Co.NZ and is not my own work. Once again I looked all over for copyright information and didn't see any. If anyone knows anything about it let me know and I will remove the bear. Unless I hear differently it will remain a part of my template with this credit to the original.

Also, the plaid overlay is courtesy of Meggadoodle and is offered on the Ephemeral Victorian website. You better grab it fast if you want it because the site is about to shut down.

Thank you so much for this one! Out of all the countries that I've been to, this is my favorite. When I was living in Europe, my grandfather (who was born and raised in Scotland) came back to Scotland and my family met up with him there. It was so special for me to be able to see where he grew up, the houses that he lived in, the places he played and to see Scotland "through" him. What better way than through a Scotsman! His birthday is tomorrow, so this comes at the perfect time! I will have to scan some of those pictures since they are from 1992! What a great birthday present this will be for him. Thank you so very much.

Wow. Thanks so much. This will be great to be able to add to my layout!!!

I was sort of bummed out that they weren't labeled. I know that the red one with the green on it is the Maxwell tartan.

Here is a link. If you know the name of the clan you can look up their tartan by alpha...

Hopefully it will be in that set. What is the clan name? I'm curious.

I know what you mean. It would be nice if they were labeled.

I haven't looked at the new link you gave me, but thank you very much. That looks as if it might be better!

As for clan name...on my grandfather's father side it's Howie from the sept (or sect, I'm not sure which word he was actually saying. Scottish accent and the phone aren't always easy to understand certain words!)of McDonald. On his mom's side, her father is a Rae.

I'm off to see if I can find my tartans. Thanks again for that additional link.

Ok, I looked at the tartans. There are tons for MacDonald and MacRae. I'm going to have get in touch with my uncle who has researched our history back a few hundred years and see if he'll be able to point in the right direction as far as the correct tartan. I'd hate to use the wrong tartan on my layout!

Check out for a website for that clan and ask someone online. (I know Maxwell has its own site.) They might be able to point you in the right direction. If they have a phone number it might be quicker.
Good luck. Yes, the wrong tartan would be a huge insult! LOL
